Kurt Kaple is a Senior Partner at Gutterman Trial Group and manages the Firm’s Pensacola office. In addition to his extensive experience representing insureds, for over two decades, he has acted as subrogation, coverage, and bad faith counsel, representing some of country’s largest insurers. Kurt is also a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (“CPCU®”).
Prior to joining Gutterman Trial Group, Kurt was a partner at one of the largest insurance defense firms in Florida. He is an experienced trial attorney in state and federal courts, including Federal Bankruptcy Court. He also has broad transactional experience, including numerous multi-million-dollar real estate and business deals.
Kurt’s current areas of practice include:
- First-party property claims
- General liability and casualty claims, including wrongful death and catastrophic injury
- Bad Faith
Kurt is a member of the Florida Bar and is also licensed to practice in Colorado. He is admitted in all Florida state and federal courts, including:
- S. District Court, Northern District of Florida
- S. District Court, Middle District of Florida
- S. District Court, Southern District of Florida
While in law school, Kurt won numerous awards and scholarships. He graduated from The University of Mississippi School of Law, placing second in his class. In addition, Kurt has obtained a B.S. in German Language Studies from the United States Military Academy, a B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Florida, and an M.S. in Finance from Florida International University. Prior to attending law school, Kurt was an officer in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he completed a yearlong Greek language course at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and subsequently served as the unit interpreter and translator for a special weapons detachment in Northern Greece.
